“I like the idea of cleaning up the environment through play. The game itself won’t clean up our planet, of course, but it’s a fun way to educate the younger generation about the burdens we put on our environment. Considering that the only way to help the environment through the game is to collect CO2 tokens, which (unlike emission certificates) aren’t used at all in the corporate world, all we’re left with is a bad-looking rip-off of Pokémon GO.”
Garbles is an AR mobile game allowing players to collect on-chain credits.
The aim of the game is to collect as much garbage as possible before it pollutes the environment, most of which can be converted into useful resources. There are two types of resources in the game – NFTs and in-game items. Eggs, trash, transmuters and badges are NFTs that can either be used in-game or sold on the marketplace.
In-game items, candy and vacuum cleaner refills are useful but cannot be exchanged or sold on the marketplace. NFTs and in-game items can be found in trash bags variously located around the map and when players collect enough resources, they can create their Garble using transmuters.
Capture
When players encounter an egg or garbage bag, Capture mode is triggered. Capture mode is a mini-game where players must vacuum up an NFT or in-game item. Vacuum cleaners will require refills to function properly, but these are easy to find on the map.
Raids
Raids are time-limited missions to clean up a territory that has been invaded by colonies of garbage monsters. Players in this mode deploy their Garbles in groups of no more than three to consume the monsters before they spread filth across the area. When the mission is complete, the player will receive rewards in the form of in-game items, NFTs and the $NUCLEAR tokens.
Transmutation
Transmutation refers to the process of turning garbage into Garbles, or minting Garbles. In order to carry out this process, the player needs a transmuter into which they place garbage and eggs. Transmuters can be found in various places around the world, and if the player finds one, he or she can mint the transmuter and control the area around that transmuter. If the transmuter is then visited by other players, the owner receives a $NUCLEAR fee reward. A part of the fee is burned, another part is used to accumulate carbon credits on the chain.
Garbles
These are the NFT characters in the game. Players can obtain them using the transmuter and a combination of eggs and garbage. Garbles are useful for earning rewards, during raids, or as assets that can be sold on the marketplace. Players can feed their Garbles with sweets to increase their satisfaction levels.
CO2 tokens
CO2 tokens are an on-chain representation of the carbon credits that give companies the right to emit certain amounts of pollution into the air. To prevent this, all transaction and transmutation fees from Garbles go into a treasury from which CO2 tokens will be purchased. A decision will be made at a later date as to what will happen with these tokens.
