“This game is very widespread, and offers a lot of features. There really is a lot to take in to understand the whole concept. The game caught my attention because of its interesting name, but is clearly not of interest to me – their target audience seems to be women from Southeast Asia.”
Kawaii Islands is a metaverse bringing players mix of entertainment and earning. The main activity, apart from socializing, is farming. Through farming, players can earn and buy furniture for their villas or clothes for their characters.
Players’ initial task is to grow a magic plant on a field. They must wait for the plant to grow and mature before it can be harvested. Its fruit can be used to obtain dye or to feed magical creatures. After players have gained experience in farming and crafting, they can start earning and saving. Later, they can also participate in Home Decorating and Seasonal Leagues.
Farming
Resources are divided into three categories: Fields, plants, and creatures. If players change their minds about the placement of their items, they can move them at any time. Each time a player performs a job on their farm, they receive special points. Each type of activity gives different points. When a specified number of points is reached, players can obtain upgrade tools. These are then stored in a barn and used to upgrade the silo, the barn, and increase the capacity of the dye machine, the material factory, and the workshop. Every harvest is stored in the silo.
Fields
Fields are a fundamental element in Kawaii Islands, as players can grow fruit on them. More importantly, they are a key element in building a business. Players can set up fields anywhere on the farming section of the island. It should be noted that each player starts with no fields, meaning they must first buy them on the marketplace. Fields come in different varieties: common, nurtured, transient, and grass. All these fields will have better properties if they have a higher rarity than common. For example, on a common field players can only grow one magical plant, while on grass fields, which are NFT, players get a boost and can harvest 10 % faster than on other fields. There is a limit to how many fields a player can have in the game, and this also depends on their level.
Magical plants and dyes
Players can grow up to eleven magical plants on their fields, and harvest the fruit to extract dyes or use as food for magical creatures. Each magic plant has a different color and is suitable for feeding a different creature. Players will need to water these plants for the fruit to ripen. A plant will produce a fruit every two minutes, with a maximum of 20 fruits per plant per growing cycle. Players can apply fertilizer to make plants grow instantly.
Magical creatures and materials
There are ten magical creatures in the game that will help their owners craft items. Each creature lays a certain type of egg. For example, the Rubbie creature lays eggs that can be turned into rubber. By combining these eggs and dyes, players can craft new items. Each magical creature will need to eat 10 pieces of fruit every 20 minutes. If properly fed and looked after, they will lay an egg every 20 minutes with an upper limit of 5 eggs.
Converting and extracting
Players can use harvested fruit and eggs to create useful materials and dyes. Two machines need to be used: The dye machine and the material factory. It should be noted that these activities take place off-chain, so if players want to sell their supplies in the marketplace, they must mint them first.
Crafting
After accumulating enough materials and dyes, players will be given the opportunity to craft furniture in the workshop. Players will be able to choose what furniture they want to craft using blueprints. After choosing a blueprint, a player must insert the materials and dyes of their choice into the slots, with some furniture requiring more materials and dyes and others requiring less. Since the result of crafting is random, based on the quantity of ingredients and the available game items pool, players will have to carefully consider which materials and dyes they should use to increase the chance of getting the items they want.
Speed-up function
If players don’t want to wait, they can use the speed-up function with gems or speed-up tools. They can speed up fruit ripening, creature growth, dye extraction, material transformation, item production, and orders.
Orders
This feature allows players to earn EXP (experience points), in-game silver, and trophies from the current seasonal league by completing and delivering orders. The items required for orders may be materials or completed items. When players successfully complete quests, they will receive medals increasing their Trading Pass level. The higher the Trading Pass level, the better the rewards. These rewards can be anything from useful items to silver. Additionally, players have the option to purchase a Premium Ticket, which allows them to enter a seasonal league. Each season will have 13 leagues and last 28 days. The higher a player is on the leaderboard, the more MILKY tokens they will receive.
Villas
Players will be able to own and customize their own villas on their islands. To acquire a villa, a player must consume tokens, material, and dye. The villa can be then freely customized in Edit mode. In this mode, players can open their Deco inventory, which stores all their decorative furnishings, and use them to decorate their villa.
Decorative furniture
Decorative furniture is non-craftable, and the only way to obtain it is by purchasing it from Lady Narisa’s furniture store.
Off-chain houses
Off-chain houses are available to Free-2-Play players as well, and can be purchased with in-game silver or gems.
Character dress-up
Each player will get two customizable characters at the start. Players can purchase exclusive outfits for them in the marketplace. Additional characters can be acquired by harvesting or by completing orders. Everything is stored in players’ dress-up closets.
Social-Fi
The metaverse consists of several islands, each designed for a different purpose and way of socializing, such as hanging out, chatting, or drinking coffee. Players can add new friends to their Friend List. Friends can then help each other and visit each other’s islands.
