The Sandbox is a Play-To-Create, Play-To-Own, Play-To-Govern and Play-To-Earn metaverse platform where creators can create different game worlds that players can freely visit to complete different quests and earn rewards.

May 2012 - The Sandbox franchise launches on iOS

February 2013 - The Sandbox is released for Android (1st title)

March 2014 - The Sandbox surpasses 10,000,000 downloads

March 2015 - The Sandbox Evolution is announced at GDC conference (2nd title)

June 2016 - The Sandbox Evolution is released on iOS, Android & Steam

July 2017 - The Sandbox Evolution announces two major partnerships: Badai Namco and Dreamworks

April 2018 - The Sandbox surpasses 40,000,000 downloads, 70,000,000 player creations, and 750,000 followers on Facebook

2019 - Funding: Seed round closes with a total of 3,410,000 USD raised

Smart Contracts: All smart contracts are publicly available on Github and have been audited by Certik, with a rating of 93/100, one of the highest in the industry

First revenue: The first two rounds of the LANDS presale (2.5% and then 5% of the total map supply) sold out in almost an hour. The total revenue generated was 1,400 ETH (approximately 300,000 USD)

The plans for these years have been for overall game improvement, and direct collaboration with creators to improve game creation tools. Player Requirements

To play, you need to register on the game's website, download the application, and create a basic avatar. All you need to get started is an internet connection, as all events can be played without having to own an NFT or token, and it is even possible to earn tokens just by playing. Of course, all skin, add-on or land purchases require game tokens.

Analytic Opinion

The Sandbox is, in my opinion, the perfect platform for gaming, harnessing your creativity, and monetizing your own ideas. The simple graphics and Minecraft-like style mean the platform has a huge number of fans and active players. Major gaming companies like Atari and Ubisoft build their own worlds on the platform and host events. What’s more, thanks to the Free-To-Play options, everyone can explore and play them without any restrictions. For me personally, The Sandbox is a place where I can relax and play a game in an event that is currently running. There's practically nothing to fault about the platform; it has an easy-to-navigate site, a detailed whitepaper, perfect optimization and gameplay, as well as earning opportunities for both creators and players. The project has many high-profile partners and an active team whose years of experience and diligence have made this quite unique metaverse possible

The Sandbox gaming platform consists of three main components: the Voxel Editor, called "VoxEdit," the Marketplace, and the game itself. All three of these components form one large ecosystem for players and creators, offering unique features and opportunities.

Voxel Editor

VoxEdit, is a powerful content creation tool that allows creators to design and build custom 3D voxel models, animate them, and easily publish or sell them on the marketplace. In addition, the editor allows you to import existing voxel objects, and provides intuitive tools for editing and tweaking them.

Marketplace

The marketplace is a central place where creators can showcase and trade their creations. Voxel objects created in VoxEdit can be converted into ERC-1155 constrained tokens known as ASSETS - virtual tokens that are limited in quantity, highly secure, and boast total authenticity. Each ASSET is unique, limited, distinct, and indivisible. Thanks to blockchain technology, creators can retain true ownership of their ASSETS. This ownership allows them to monetize and freely trade their creations within the platform.

The Smart Contract ASSET, built on blockchain technology, revolutionizes the concept of content ownership and distribution. ASSETS can be leveraged beyond a single game, allowing developers to deliver lasting and growing value. This "second layer programmability" allows developers to share ASSETS across games, platforms, and chains, creating a new paradigm in the gaming industry.

Game

The gaming component of The Sandbox is an overarching system in which players can enjoy and share a range of gameplay experiences. In this immersive environment, creators can monetize their creations while players have the opportunity to play and earn, as well as collect resources, rewards, and tokens in-game, providing further incentive to engage with the platform and its community.

Lands and map

LANDS are virtual tokens supported by blockchain technology, specifically the ERC-721 standard for Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). These tokens are tangible packages within The Sandbox Metaverse that give players ownership of parts of this vast virtual universe. With ownership of LANDS, players gain the ability to host and share content such as ASSETS and GAMES. The Sandbox Metaverse is a meticulously designed map containing a total of 166,464 LANDS that form a 408 x 408 grid. Each LAND serves as a physical space where players can create and monetize their own games. While each LAND comes with pre-made terrains, owners are free to customize and terraform their land as they wish, either individually or in collaboration with invited players. In the future, the ability to merge LANDs will appear, allowing for the creation of STATES, which have the potential for joint ownership by multiple players, eventually leading to the creation of DISTRICTS within the metaverse.

Avatars

An AVATAR in the game refers to a voxel character that can be customized in a modular fashion. Players have the ability to customize their avatar by modifying its individual components, such as its helmet, arms, torso, and legs, using compatible ASSET tokens. All avatars have a default set of animations, including walking, running, jumping, and fighting, and can be further personalized by equipping them with different ASSET tokens.
