Kanye West is reportedly buying social media platform Parler

Kanye West, the rapper who endorsed former US President Donald Trump, has previously praised cryptocurrencies and bitcoin. The rapper noted that bitcoin supporters have a better idea of what the true liberation of humanity and America will be like.

The announcement of the Parler purchase comes after its Instagram and Twitter accounts were suspended. The reason was suspected anti-Semitic content.

Parler noted that the purchase agreement is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2022. The platform founded in 2018 has seen rapid growth in relation to the 2020 US election. It is being touted as a free-speech alternative to Twitter. Parler was removed from the App Store and Google Play on 6 January 2021 after the US riots. Amazon Web Services removed Parler from its platform for failing to address violent and questionable content. The app was restored on 15 February 2021. It returned to the App Store and Google Play on 17 May 2021.

In March 2022, Parler launched the DeepRedSky NFT marketplace, featuring a collection of digital artworks with Donald Trump’s portrait. Other products that have appeared in the NFT section of the platform include Babylon Bee and Brandon Tatum's "Pocahontas". The former US first lady has also launched several NFT collections through the Solana network. However, the Solana Foundation distanced itself from her project.

Parler Technologies CEO George Farmer was positive about the possibility of West’s ownership. He noted that the rapper's purchase will have a significant impact on the way people think about free speech.
