Solana Finally Releases its Saga Phone
Solana's Web 3.0 smartphone, Saga, is finally ready to ship to everyone who pre-ordered it. Shipping of the 1,000 USD phone will begin on April 20.
Solana's mobile phone was first introduced in 2022, and the company claimed it was the world's first smartphone with Web 3.0 capabilities.
Anatoly Yakavenko, co-founder and CEO of Solana, kicked off the Saga phone launch event by stating that he doesn't see a future that isn't mobile. Solana jas therefore decided to explore new possibilities and created a specially designed smartphone with features that will make it more accessible and convenient for Web 3.0 users.
The Saga smartphone is based on the OV1 device with the Android operating system from OEM OSOM. It is natively on Web 3.0 thanks to full-feature software from Solana, referred to as the Solana Mobile Stack. In terms of hardware, the mobile is equipped with Seed Vault storage, which provides secure storage for Solana wallet private keys in a custom execution environment that no app on the phone, not even the Android OS, can access.

The Saga also features a 6.67-inch FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate, Snapdragon 8+ generation processor, 12GB of RAM, 512GB of internal memory and the option to insert a micro SD card for an additional 512GB. The back of the phone is ceramic, the bezel is stainless steel and the buttons are titanium.
There are several special rewards for Saga smartphone owners, including 0.01 SOL per gas and 20 USD in the USDC stablecoin as part of the Solana Mobile welcome package.
One of the other interesting features is the limited edition NFT Saga genesis, which will allow all future Solana-based projects to identify their first users and decide how to reward them. There are assets from games like Genopets and Honeyland, as well as exclusive music from Audius. In addition, owners will receive an additional 25 USD in the USDC stablecoin from Magic Eden, and access to Helium's Web 3.0 network for US users.
One of the most important things on the new Saga phone is the app store, which will allow developers to create fully native blockchain games and DeFi products, without the hassle associated with T&C platform holders. Users will be able to make all transactions in the app easily and, most importantly, securely thanks to Seed Vault.
