The Smurfs are Coming NFT
The Smurfs were created by the Belgian artist Peyo and published as a comic strip in 1958. They immediately became a hit and, in their 65 years of existence, have created one of the most successful entertainment franchises. Now they are coming to life again through blockchain technology.
Smurfs (Les Schtroumpfs in the original) are small blue creatures, primarily male, with various adventures. Smurfs originally appeared in comic books, but as their popularity grew, they have seen many animated series, movies, and countless physical items in the form of toys, figurines, stuffed animals, and more. Thanks to a partnership with The Sandbox, Smurfs are entering the Web 3.0 space with their platform.
The Smurfs Society is a gamified, fully on-chain platform built on the Polygon network. Testing is handled by a closed community of people who provide feedback to the developers and help with completion. The platform has been in development for over a year.
The Smurfs Society launched its collection on April 18. However, unveiling the specific NFTs in this collection will not occur until May this year.
The NFT collection will feature 12,500 3D-rendered PFP Smurfs, each unique and fully customizable. The collection is expected to contain 250 types of Smurfs, each with 50 unique variants and over 350 different features.
Smurfs have enjoyed success across many generations and, now entering the Web 3.0 space, will expand their fan base. The company offers fans an area where they can meet, share their thoughts and ideas, and discuss the upcoming launch of the game world.
