NFT Exhibition at the Famous French Museum of Modern Art
The Centre Pompidou Museum, which contains the first collection of modern art in Europe, will present a new exhibition focusing on blockchain art this spring.
On February 10 this year (2023), the prestigious Parisian modern art museum, Centre Pompidou, announced a forthcoming permanent exhibition linking art and blockchain.
Following this announcement, we learned that this exhibition will feature NFTs from over 16 artists from around the world, including the highly popular collectibles CryptoPunk #110 and Autoglyph #25, which have been donated to this exhibition.
Xavier Rey, Director of the French National Museum of Modern Art, said:
" Web 3.0 is an innovative space that artists are now using to create original and bold works, and this collection confirms our support for artists in their exploration of the new means of expression that are at the heart of modern art."
The exhibition, which is scheduled to open this spring, is an NFT first at the internationally renowned Centre Pompidou, and features masterpieces by artists such as Frida Kahlo, Henri Matisse and Vasily Kandinsky.
Yuga Labs, which has owned CryptoPunks since March 2022, said the move is part of a project to donate the Punks collection to prestigious museums around the world. Yuga Labs has already donated CryptoPunks #305 to the Museum of Modern Art in Miami.
"Seeing CryptoPunk #110 displayed at the Centre Pompidou, arguably the most prestigious modern art museum in the world, is a big moment for Web 3.0 technology and NFT, and we are honored to contribute to this cultural conversation," said Greg Solano, co-founder of Yuga Labs.
NFTs are digital assets that represent real-world objects such as art, music, gaming items and videos. Using distributed ledger technology, NFTs can serve as a method of verifying that the buyer is the actual owner of the item being purchased.
