Polkastarter GAM3 Awards Winners Have Been Announced

Polkastarter’s inaugural GAM3 Awards winners were honored with a live ceremony, and Big Time won the “Game of the Year” Award.
The very first Web3 gaming awards ceremony, “GAM3 Awards,” was hosted by Polkastarter on 15 December 2022. With over 25 gaming industry leaders, investors, and experts representing traditional and web-based gaming, the event became the first of its kind. The hashtag #GAM3Awards was used in almost 13,000 tweets, and the community submitted over 40,000 votes.
The winners of each category will share prizes valued at over 1,000,000 US Dollars provided by partners, including but not limited to Immutable X, Blockchain Game Alliance, Machinations, Ultra, Naavik, Merit Circle, and HackenProof.
During the live ceremony, exclusive footage of the nominated Web3 games, including Mythic Protocol, Cards of Ethernity, Mummy.io, and Elarium, was presented to give the community a glimpse into what these developers have been working to create.
What is Polkastarter GAM3 Awards?
The Polkastarter game awards were initiated to celebrate the rapid development of Web3 games and the quality of the games within this space. Simply put, it aims to create a new culture that looks forward to and strives for an annual event.
For this first GAM3 Awards, over 300 games were evaluated, and 20 games were submitted to the 38-member jury for their top 5 selection. The jury voted exclusively, and their votes were added to get the top 5 finalists in for category.
However, there were three exceptions to the voting: People’s Choice, Content Creator, and Game’s Choice were entirely nominated and voted by the community members. Furthermore, Game’s Choice encouraged Web3 games to recognize each other’s work and select the game they appreciate the most. Finally, jury votes were combined with community input to determine the winner in each category.
Being nominated in these categories is an honor and a remarkable achievement. A few games, however, stood out with multiple nominations. Big Time and Illuvium received six nominations, including Game Of The Year. My Pet Hooligan and Gods Unchained got four nominations.
Several factors were considered when judging the games, including the core loop, graphics, accessibility, re-playability factor, fun elements, and overall playing experience. Although the primary focus of the awards was on playability, eligibility for the nomination was primarily determined by whether the games use or do not use blockchain technology.
Almost all games nominated for the award were analyzed by our game analysts on our page, Charlie Gaming. The ratings given by our analysts and the votes of the community and jury showed similarities.
“Game Of The Year” Big Time was rated 8.2, and “Best RPG” Illuvium was rated 9.2. Star Atlas received an 8.6, while Gods Unchained received an 8.0.
