Splinterlands February News

NFTY Arcade

Splinterlands is a fairly complex strategy card game where players with perfect game knowledge excel. Higher leagues are the best way to learn the game the fastest, but players in these leagues tend to have expensive decks of cards, which can be limiting for some new players. With NFTy Arcade, a new Play-To-Earn platform from indie developer 16bit, players can lend their card decks to players who don’t have the means to afford them. These players can then play in higher leagues that offer better rewards and the opportunity to learn the game faster. It is a win/win method in which players who are not currently playing lend their cards to a player who wants to play but does not have the funds to buy a good deck of cards, and the two players split any earnings. For newcomers, it’s a good way to learn the game and make some money without owning an expensive deck, and for veterans, it’s a pretty good “passive income.”

Updates to the Tournament and Brawls card sets

Based on player suggestions, a deck update is coming in, which will categorize cards by what set they belong to, not what edition they come from. Tournaments and Brawls will be run accordingly and divided by card sets. Up until now, cards have only been grouped by Alpha, Beta, Promo, etc. editions. However, since introducing the Modern & Wild battle format, comparing cards by frame type is important. A set will always consist of one base edition (Aplha, Beta, Untamed, Chaos Legion), mini sets of cards associated with the base editions (Dice, Riftwatchers), and finally the Promo & Reward cards that are also associated with the base editions. Sets refer to the entire “family”  of cards across all editions.

In total, there will be four sets of cards available (a fifth set will be available after the introduction of the Rebellion deck)

● Alpha Set: Alpha edition + Promo cards with Alpha frame (Dragon Whelp, Neb Seni, Royal Dragon Archer, Shin-Lo)

● Beta Set: Beta edition + Promo cards with Beta frame (the Orb cards, SEEDGerminator cards, Prince Julian, Archmage Arius) + Reward cards with Beta frame (Exploding Dwarf, etc.)

● Untamed Set: Untamed edition + Promo cards with Untamed frame (Mighty Dricken, Halfling Alchemist, Chain Golem) + Reward cards with Untamed frame (Flame Monkey, etc.) + Dice edition

● Chaos Legion Set: Chaos Legion edition + Chaos Legion framed promo cards (Doctor Blight, Oshuur Constantia, Arkemis the Bear, Waka Spiritblade, Runi, Lux Vega) + Chaos Legion framed reward cards (Venari Heatsmith, Soulbound cards, etc.) + Riftwatchers edition

Gladiator cards are not in any of the above sets, as they can only be used in Guild Brawls or other battles and only if the ability or ruleset allows it.

Short newspaper in the end

● Splinterlands has officially reached 2 billion transactions on the chain.

● Blockchain gaming platform Wombat named Splinterlands NFT Game of the Week on February 7 for play and transactions recorded.

● New gameplay video from the close beta of Soulkeep’s new tower defense game.
