Splinterlands News

Splinterlands is a digital collectible game based on the Hive blockchain. Similar to Axie, you create a collection of cards that have different abilities and stats, then fight against other players or computers (PvP and PvE). You can find the full game analysis here.

Splinterlands has updated its players on some developments with the reward system and land claim mechanics, with further improvements and upgrades also being planned.

Reward System Update

Only a small percentage of rewards are earned in direct battles, which is not currently enough to match the number of players in modern wild formats. To help remedy this, fighters will be directly awarded a percentage of the SPS pool during battles. SPS are currently being distributed at a rate of 7.5 billion per month with a small decrease each month, but as SPS prices rise, the rewards will increase too. And, as more players join, the amount per player could decrease or flatten.

Splinterlands has altered the reward system so that players no longer print or earn DEC. So, if the dollar value of SPS goes up, the number of tokens will not change, but the US dollar value can. Up to this moment, almost a million dollars a month have been given away.

There will also be the implementation of  an internal dashboard to display data feeds in real-time, as well as charts and graphs to display the distributed DEC rewards cards.

How Will Players Claim Land?

In Phase 1, players will be able to redeem their claimed tokens and get their land titles, which will be distributed depending on the token’s value. For example, if the player has Trux tokens, one Trux token will buy them 100 land deeds. The amount of land, the number of resources and rarity, etc. will all be determined in phase 1, which is planned for release by the end of this year (2022).

The lands will also be related to cards, not only tokens, as they are designed to give their holders additional value for holding older or rarer cards, which will carry a higher value.

The team also mentioned that the validators will be open-source, and players will be able to use them in Q4 of 2022.

There are also plans to gear the monster cards towards higher mana battles, as they become more common. To support this, summoners with prices close to double digits will be released, with 99 mana battles for players to choose from.

Splinterlands TV manager Rondon explained that the goal of their campaign is to take over Twitch, with a huge presence that drives people to watch and learn about Splinterlands, as well as getting involved.

"It's a small way of letting people know that Twitch is a great place to advertise their own game. Most companies already know that - but no one else is doing what we're doing. We provide continuous content on our channel, so I think we have a great chance of succeeding."

Splinterlands TV has almost 1700 followers so far and in total, 8000 unique viewers have engaged with the platform for a collective 1.94 million minutes. The website has been completely revamped over the past two weeks in preparation for the start of this more serious part of their journey.
